Invited by the UNCCD COP16 Presidency, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambition Loop will facilitate the creation of an Action Agenda within the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) to accelerate actions by non-state actors in support of the UNCCD’s objectives. These include to combat land degradation and promote sustainable
land management and restoration, recognizing that healthy land is central to healthy ecosystems and the planet’s wellbeing, while improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations – and critical to achieving the goals set forth in the fellow Rio Conventions on climate change and biodiversity.

Ambition Loop aims to support the KSA Presidency in developing and delivering the Riyadh Action Agenda at COP16 and rolling it out over the 2 years of the presidency to ensure, inter alia: strong support for the diplomatic COP16 outcomes from non-state actors; a clearly defined action agenda with bold 2030 targets and clear actionable steps, such as the conservation and restoration of 1.5 billion hectares of land by 2030 to achieve a land-degradation-neutral world; demonstrable progress during the KSA presidency, evidenced by the flow of capital towards concrete
